The invention of the CCS-process was made to revolutionize the charging of
rechargeable batteries. The CCS charge controller utilizes exceptional features
for regulating the power supply during battery charging that ensures full
under/overcharge protection. It is based not on simple external measured data
but, for the first time, the CCS-technique recalculates the inner impedance
between electrodes and electrolyte related to the processes within the cell. By
this the new charger is suitable for all types or sorts or sizes of batteries,
singly or series mounted.. Regardless of the state of charge, leakage tendency
or ambient conditions the battery is charged 100% full with maximum reliability
within several minutes (NC).
Although a discharge cycle before charging is
not needed no Memory-Effect will occur.
Besides this, the new process has valuable advantages for the design of
battery powered products:
The same circuit is suitable
for different batteries (NC,NMH,..)
The battery is
connected with a simple two lead wire without additional sensors (NTC).
The electronic circuitry does not need any adjustments or
calibration during production.
The precise process
improves the reliability and life of the battery (>5000 Cycles)
Foolproof operation over a wide extended temperature
range
Proper function of the product and no worries
anymore with LOW-BAT
Customer satisfaction and savings in
design, production, reclamation, service
With the above mentioned features and being the only method to charge a
battery fast and reliable while improving it's life at the same time, the
CCS-process can change our mind of uncertain rechargeable batteries in the past
to get a stable and reliable power source for portables in the future.
The
paper describes functions and features of the new CCS-process in relation to
conventional methods and will give hints for the design and development
for different portable applications.
